Notes on making a game

First, understand.
Then, build.

I’ve always wanted to build a cabin in the woods. Now I’m making a game to understand what that really takes. This is the record of building it.

The idea

Learn the build. Then try your own.

The proposed game takes you from choosing land to your first night in a completed cabin. A guided introduction teaches the process; a longer independent mode lets you manage the decisions.

Where things stand

The blueprint is written.

The first planning package maps 51 learning topics and a proposed 58-minute guided experience. The setting is the North Cascades, with stairs to a loft. The game itself is not built yet; next comes a small playable section.
